Design and Technology
At Beaver Green Primary School we believe that Design and Technology plays a pivotal part in daily life. Our pupils use their mathematical, science, art and computing skills to solve real and relevant problems that will enable them to make valuable contributions to the nation. We aim to give our children Design and Technology experiences that they can take forward into the workplace and wider society.
We value the principles of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and we encourage our children to be independent thinkers who are inspired to take on new challenges in our ever changing society. As part of our curriculum children will learn about prominent designers from around the world.
At Beaver Green we value the practical nature (cooking, product design, construction etc) of Design and Technology encouraging all of our children to freely and actively engage with the subject and develop their imagination and creativity.
Together with the Primary Knowledge Curriculum we have identified the key knowledge and skills of each topic to be studied and consideration has been given to ensure progression across Design and Technology throughout each year group and across the school.
