2 year old room

We have designed our 2 year old room to allow the children the maximum potential for activity and learning.  Our 2 year olds are cared for in a large, bright, spacious room with furniture made from natural materials and at the perfect height to allow children to be independent in selecting their own toys and activities.  Within this room we have a sleep area for your child to nap and we also have toilets and a changing area located just outside the room.  Our 2 year olds have their own dedicated outside area to explore and they love going on muddy puddle walks around the school grounds to see what they can find.

We focus mainly on the Prime Areas of learning

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development

  • Communication and Language Development

  • Physical Development

With aspects of the other areas of learning being woven in.

  • Literacy

  • Mathematics

  • Knowledge and Understanding of the world

  • Expressive Arts and Design

We make a wide variety of play and activity options available to your child, which include:

  • role play

  • messy play

  • arts and crafts

  • puzzles

  • reading corner

  • ride-on toys

  • small world play

  • singing and dancing.

We also encourage the children to make their own choices and resources.   All activities are planned based on your two-year-old’s interests and needs.

Meals

If your child stays all day, Beaver Green Nursery gives the option for your child to have a packed lunch or a cooked school dinner (payable via Parent Pay).  Please note school dinners need to be booked in advance.  We provide healthy and nutritious cooked meals, along with healthy snacks and drinks.

Your child’s learning journey

Your two-year-old’s day will be documented in their daily diary, where we record information about what they’ve eaten, how long they’ve slept, nappy changes and toilet training progress. If you ever wish to discuss anything about your child, our staff team are always available to chat and give you feedback.

In addition to this, your child will also have their own learning journey folder and an online learning journey which you can access from home, to see all the exciting things they have been doing.

Transition

The term after your child turns 3 we will look into moving your child into our 3 year old room.  Moving into a new room with new people can be daunting, so we ensure the transition for every child is specific to their needs.  We ensure that they have regular contact with their new key person and are familiar with their new surroundings.  Before this process starts we will let the parents know and work together to ensure the process is as smooth as possible.  We also give opportunities for parents to meet their child’s new key person before they move up.
